Clash of Iris — official trailer

Built on the Star Atlas roster

Every ship in Clash of Iris is a real Star Atlas model, drawn at its real proportions — from the 28-metre Fimbul BYOS Earp you start in to the 420-metre VZUS Ballad. Nothing was invented: enemies, escorts and Colossi are the same roster, composed into fleets when a single hull isn't enough.

The galaxy is the Galia Expanse of the canon. Three superpowers came out of the Convergence War: MUD, the human divine right, flying Pearce; the ONI Consortium, the alliance forged at the edge of extinction, flying Busan; and the Ustur, sentient androids, flying VZUS. Around the Cataclysm — seven dwarf planets that collided, with Iris sealed at the centre — lies the ring of chaos the game is named after.

What you do out there

Four loops that feed each other. None of them is optional for long.

Fight

Cells and missiles, criticals and shields, ammunition you buy by the lot and choose by the target. Board a crippled ship with marines. Hazards, storms and creatures that answer to the currents of Iris. PvP with an outlaw flag for those who hunt the weak.

Grow

Hull marks from 0 to 10, weapon upgrades on a timer and fusion of two level-5 weapons into the next tier. Skills, crew officers with wages, and six gems — one per stat — that only the Colossi drop.

Trade

Credits from combat, Crystals from the field, Iris Shards as the premium currency. Station markets with a local tax that corporations can collect, an auction of elite lots, a weekly crystal-to-shard exchange, and a magazine with a real capacity.

Unite

Corporations with treasuries, wars declared and paid for, diplomacy with pacts and mercenary contracts. Squads that split loot by damage. Territory: three satellites per region and a faction bastion to bring down.

The world

Difficulty is geography. Where you are says who lives there.

Regions 1–6

Safe Zone

The colonies of the superpowers. Petty crime, gangs, slavers and the first merchant convoy. Where every captain learns to fly.

Regions 7–13

Medium Risk Zone

Independence that turned into abandonment: armed trade, mining barons, relic raiders. Five times the population of all the safe zones, and no seat at the table.

Regions 14–20

High-Risk Zone

The ring around the Cataclysm. Cults, mercenary legions, the Umbral Court, the Dark Photoli — and the Colossi, the only sprites measured in kilometres.

Region 21

The Subspace

A layer of our own, not the canon: reduced sensors, the Rift with its ten waves, and creatures that live nowhere else.

The hangar

Fourteen hulls, all from the official roster, at their real dimensions. You start in the smallest.

The Colossi

Six bosses on the route through the High-Risk Zone, in a strict ladder of hit points. The Primordial Leviathan respawns every 72 hours and is the most contested object in the server.

Each Colossus drops gems for the three captains who dealt the most damage — its rarity comes from its size. The Anomaly rarity exists only for whoever holds the Primordial for a season.

Seasons

The clock everyone plays against.

Sub-seasons of three months

Glory from PvP decides the Iris Blade — the top 100 — and monthly milestones. A pass with free and premium tracks runs alongside.

A season, then a fresh start

A year-long season ends with a prize pool for the top 1,000 captains by Glory. Then every account resets — hulls, weapons, skills, gems, everything. Only your Iris Shards cross the line.

Events all year

Colossus Incursions, golden routes, flagship hunts and void tides, each with its own currency and shop. Daily rewards, a monthly raffle and vaults with keys fill the days in between.

Questions

Is it free?

Yes. Iris Shards are the premium currency, but the game is playable without them — and the advantage of premium ammunition decays as you upgrade your weapons, on purpose.

What do I need?

A desktop browser — Chrome, Firefox or Edge. Nothing to install. Touch works but isn't tuned yet.

Do I need an account?

Yes. Create one with your e-mail and a password, or sign in with Google or Apple — your captain follows you across devices.

Will my progress be wiped?

During the alpha, yes — resets can happen without notice. After launch, only the season reset touches your account, and it announces itself.

What is the relationship with Star Atlas?

Clash of Iris uses the Star Atlas intellectual property — its ships, factions and lore — under official authorization. It is not developed by the Star Atlas team.

Is there a minimum age?

Yes: 18, or 21 in countries where adulthood starts at 21 — including the United States and Canada. The game asks your country when you create your account.
